The review

This is the most capable scooter on the US side of this site, and the least portable by a wide margin. Both facts come from the same place.

The capability is real: 43.5 miles of claimed range, 11-inch tubeless tires β€” the largest here, and tire size does more for ride comfort than any suspension design β€” dual suspension with a telescopic cantilever fork up front and a spring at the rear, and dual disc brakes, not a disc plus an electronic regen brake. It charges in four hours, which is genuinely fast for a battery this size. The 4.5 average across 376 ratings is the strongest combination of score and sample on this site, and the reviews are notably detailed: one 65-year-old rider in Colorado Springs writes up a hundred miles of use in the foothills.

Then there's the weight. It is 65.5 pounds. That's not a scooter you carry, it's a scooter you park. Two separate reviewers mention the delivery taking two people to get it up the stairs. If your plan involves an apartment on the third floor, a train, or lifting it into a car trunk on your own, stop here and look at the Hiboy instead. This machine assumes a garage, a ground-floor entry or a bike room.

What Segway won't tell you. The listing advertises 1,600 W peak and never states nominal wattage. Peak is the marketing number: it's what the motor pulls for a few seconds cresting a hill. Nominal is what it holds all day, and it's the figure that would let you compare this against anything else. We've left it blank instead of inventing it, which is why the push axis on the chart shows hollow. Battery capacity in watt-hours is missing too β€” on a $999.99 scooter, that's a strange thing to omit.

Also worth checking before you buy: the listing doesn't mention UL 2272 certification. Segway certifies much of its range, so it may well be certified, but "probably" isn't good enough if your landlord is asking.

The good

  • 43.5 miles of claimed range, the longest here
  • 11-inch tubeless tires, the largest on this site
  • True dual suspension: telescopic cantilever front, spring rear
  • Dual disc brakes, not a disc plus electronic regen
  • 4-hour charging, fast for this battery size
  • 376 ratings at 4.5 β€” the best score-and-sample combination here
  • 265 lb max load
  • Segway, the reference brand in the category

The not so good

  • 65.5 lb: you park this scooter, you don't carry it
  • Only peak wattage is published, never nominal
  • No published battery capacity on a $999.99 scooter
  • $999.99 with no discount at time of writing
  • The 43.5-mile range is ECO mode, not at 24.9 mph
  • No mention of UL 2272 certification
  • No published warranty term in the listing

Weight65.5 lb. That is not a scooter you carry β€” it is a scooter you park. Two of the reviews mention it took two people to get it up a flight of stairs on delivery
PowerSegway publishes 1,600 W peak and never states nominal wattage. Peak is what the motor pulls for a few seconds on a climb; nominal is what it sustains. We leave nominal blank rather than guess, so the push axis shows hollow
Charging4 hours with Segway's flash charging, which is fast for a battery this size
Tires11-inch tubeless, the largest here. Big tires are the single biggest comfort upgrade on a scooter, more than any suspension
Range43.5 miles in ECO mode. Expect meaningfully less at 24.9 mph

What buyers say

A summary of the reviews published on Amazon.com as of 2026-08-21.

4,5 de 5 4,5 376 ratings

4.5 out of 5 from 376 ratings, and the reviews are unusually substantive β€” several run to multiple paragraphs after a hundred-plus miles of use. Build quality is the recurring theme: buyers repeatedly say it feels a class above its price. Riders coming from cheaper scooters single out how it holds speed up hills. The consistent caveat is the weight, mentioned in both praise and complaint, sometimes in the same review.
